Match Report (Parkgate 1 - Winterton Rangers 4) 20th November 2004 NCEL Division 1 |
The game had barely started but Rangers had flashed the
ball across the face of the Parkgate goal from either flank inside two minutes.
On four minutes a ball from midfield into Jamie Richards as he dropped off the
centre back ha took a touch before threading the ball through to the overlapping
Chris MacDonald who fired home.0-1
Parkgate rallied, looking a side that liked to pass the ball around. On 7mins. Parkgate's Brian Cusworth attempted a dipping shot from range that just went over.
Rangers looked to be more direct, moving the ball quicker and made a lot of ground down both flanks. Both Banks and Wilson getting behind the full back. On 14mins Wilson raced into the box and played a square ball across the six-yard box to Richards but his shot was blocked away.
Rangers looked as if they would score every attack, Wilson and Richards were combining really well. Richards strength and Wilson’s pace were asking questions of the Parkgate defence. Wilson’s angled run down the left before finding Richards on the edge of the box, he released Spall into the box but the keeper stood up well to block away.
Parkgate’s first real chance came when Spall was caught in possession and the home side won a corner. The ball into the box had Cusworth head over.
On 28mins. Rangers scored probably their goal of the
season. Chris MacDonald pushing up from midfield and into the box was found with
a pinpoint 20-yard pass from Dave Ingram. Macdonald had to stretch out his left
peg to touch volley the ball into the corner to extend their lead. 0-2
Two minutes later with Rangers continuing to dominate Banks
won a free kick five yards from the box, MacDonald’s in swinging cross was met
by Richards with a glancing header that slipped inside the far post 0-3
On 33mins, Wilson made ground down the left, cutting into the box. His ball across to Richards (having his best game for rangers this season) was chested down but fired against the angle.
Winterton just seemed to have plenty of runners, Wilson playing alongside Richards for the first time this season was causing trouble down both sides, and if it wasn’t him Spall and Banks were overlapping down the flanks and Macdonald was joining in through the middle. Parkgate didn’t have an answer.
A perfect example on 37 minutes when a Good Spall run on the right produced a cross across the face that eluded everyone including Chris MacDonald who appeared at the far. Jamie Richards unfortunately pulled up soon after with a thigh strain. Chris Hudson replaced him.
HALF TIME 0-3
Parkgate, came out fighting, but still took until the 55min. before a good ball from the right found had Cusworth head over. With nothing to lose Parkgate made a double substitution.
The loss of Richards had changed the Rangers Dynamic; the ball no longer came into feet for the strikers to hold as both Wilson and Hudson like it in front of them. Unfortunately this gave Parkgate more of the possession as the ball through was cleared up at the back.
Parkgate were given a free kick in their own half for a dubious offside when Wilson clearly came from his own half. They took it quickly with a ball into the box where Guy Sandland caught the Rangers defence cold and pulled a goal back. 1-3 (63mins)
Two minutes later rangers on the left, got in a cross into the box, it went over the outstretched keeper, where Wilson climbed well but leaning back couldn’t direct his header goal wards. Parkgate replied with a corner that flashed across the face.
Dean Wilson again was in apposition to face goal wards, he struck early attempting to lob the keeper but the ball went over the bar. (68mins)
Parkgate had their best chance of the game on 77mins. When a ball in from the right found Cusworth between the Rangers centre-backs but his poor header was straight at Rangers keeper white.
On 88mins it was all over. Green intercepted a Parkgate attack before finding Spall. A neat 1-2 with Wilson sent Spall racing into the box from the halfway line chased all the way by the fullback. To no avail as Spall fired into the roof of the net to complete the win. 1-4
With a few game postponed rangers win takes them up to seventh.
